NEW! 6-7 Year Old Division
The Town of Vestal Recreation Department is sponsoring a youth recreational basketball league - VESTAL YOUTH BASKETBALL ORGANIZATION. VYBO is a comprehensive basketball program that is now open to boys and girls ages 6 - 11 years. Every player, regardless of ability, has an opportunity to play and enjoy the game. Participants will learn a new skill each week, as well as play games.
Game Dates: Saturdays January 6 - February 24 (No games Sat., Jan 13th and Feb 17th due to Vestal School policy - buildings closed during holiday weekends)
Games for the 6&7 year olds will be played at the Clayton Avenue Elementary gym.
Games for the 8-11 year olds will be played at the Vestal High School gym. Please note: Games are played on Saturdays. There is a possibility that a game could be played on Sunday due to the High School sports schedule.
All 8-11 age teams practice once a week - starting the week of January 2nd. All practices will be at Glenwood Elementary School. No weekly practices for the 6-7 division. Team information will be mailed out mid-late December.
Cost: Vestal Residents $55 Non-Residents $65
Game Times:
6 & 7 years old - 12:00 Noon - 1:15 PM at Clayton Avenue Elementary - FULL - taking a wait list
8 & 9 years old - 12:00 Noon - 1:15 PM at the Vestal High School - FULL - taking a wait list
10 & 11 years old - 1:30 - 2:45 PM at the Vestal High School
Registration deadline is Friday, November 17th, OR when the league fills.
PARENTS - Please consider co-coaching your child's team! We need your help to run this league.
Volunteer Coaches are needed to run this program. Our goal is to have two coaches per team in a co-coaching situation. This league has a director running the weekly skills and games. Coaching requirements include: enjoys working with children, having fun, interest in basketball, one weekly practice for the 8-11 age group, and a weekly game. There is no cost to being a coach and we provide a free coach's t-shirt. YOU MUST SIGN A WAIVER FOR A BACKGROUND CHECK BEFORE YOU ARE ALLOWED TO COACH. Please see the form below.
There is one important coaches meeting that will be in December.
