Falling For Fungi
Brown, red, orange, white, black, and even purple? Oh my! Mushrooms, the fruiting body of fungi, come in many different shapes and sizes. Each kind of mushroom has its own purpose in nature, from breaking down decaying material to helping trees absorb nutrients through their roots. Come to the Waterman Conservation Education Center to learn all about some of the many species of mushrooms found locally, from how to identify them to what they do as part of our fascinating forest ecosystem!
"Day Camp" at the Waterman Conservation Center is an exciting adventure filled program, open when school is closed. A well-trained staff will lead children in a variety of outdoor nature activities. Open to kids in 3rd & 4th grades.
Participants must provide their own transportation. Please be prepared to spend most of the day outside, hiking trails, and dress for the weather. Campers should be sure to have a water bottle and packed lunch. No food will be prepared or served on premises. Pre-registration is required.
