Vestal Youth Basketball Organization - 6 - 7 Year old (Co-ed) VYBO
The Town of Vestal Recreation Department is sponsoring a youth recreational basketball league - VESTAL YOUTH BASKETBALL ORGANIZATION. VYBO is a comprehensive basketball program that is now open to boys and girls ages 6 - 11 years. Every player, regardless of ability, has an opportunity to play and enjoy the game. Participants will learn a new skill each week, as well as play games.Game Dates: Saturdays January 10 - February 28 (No games Sat., Jan 17th and Feb 14th due to Vestal School policy - buildings closed during holiday weekends)Games for the 6-7 year old division will be played at the Clayton Avenue Elementary gym.Games for the 8-11 year old division will be played at either the Vestal High School or Vestal Middle School gym. Note: Game times may change due to Varsity Basketball Schedule.All 8-11 age teams practice once a week - starting the week of January 5th. All practices will be at Glenwood Elementary School. There are no weekly practices for the 6-7 division. Team information will be mailed out mid-late December.Cost: Vestal Residents $60 Non-Residents $70Game Times: 6 & 7 years old - 9:00 AM - 10:15 AM at Clayton Avenue Elementary Full - Waitlist available8 & 9 years old - 12:00 Noon - 1:15 PM at either Vestal High School or Vestal Middle School Full - Waitlist available10 & 11 years old - 1:30 - 2:45 PM at either Vestal High School or Vestal Middle School Registration deadline is Friday, November 21st, OR when the league fills. Coaches: Volunteer Coaches are needed to run this program. Our goal is to have two coaches per team in a co-coaching situation. This league has a director running the weekly skills and games. Coaches should enjoy working with children and have an interest in basketball. There is one weekly practice for the 8-11 age division, and a weekly game for all groups. It does not cost anything to be a coach and we provide a free coach's t-shirt. All coaches need to pass a background check. Please see the form below. Coaches for the 8-11 age group must be CPR/AED certified per NYS Law. If you are not already certified, the Recreation Department will be holding a free class.
